چکیده
We have developed an analysis system for photocatalytic reactions, which utilizes a TiO(2) immobilized micro-capillary and a detection technique for dye concentration at arbitrary positions. In this study, we investigated the reaction processes for the photocatalytic decomposition of rhodamine 6G. This system allows the distinction of direct and secondary photocatalytic reactions under the same experimental conditions. The direct reaction occurs between adsorbed species and photoexcited electrons or holes, while the secondary reaction is induced by radicals, such as ·OH, O(2)(+)·, generated in water or ethanol. The entire reaction was studied by monitoring the dye concentration in the UV irradiated area, while only the secondary reaction was monitored outside the UV irradiated area.

Analogies and differences between photocatalytic oxidation of chemicals and photocatalytic inactivation of microorganisms.
This study reports the analogies and differences found when comparing TiO(2) photocatalytic treatment for chemical oxidation and microorganisms inactivation, using methylene blue and Escherichia coli as references, respectively. In both processes the activation is based on the same physicochemical phenomena and consequently a good correlation between them is observed when analyzing the effect o...

متن کاملImmobilization of TiO2 Nanoparticles on Chlorella pyrenoidosa Cells for Enhanced Visible-Light-Driven Photocatalysis
TiO₂ nanoparticles are immobilized on chlorella cells using the hydrothermal method. The morphology, structure, and the visible-light-driven photocatalytic activity of the prepared chlorella/TiO₂ composite are investigated by various methods. The chlorella/TiO₂ composite is found to exhibit larger average sizes and higher visible-light intensities. The sensitization of the photosynthesis pigmen...
